Emma spent many weeks in the hospital throughout her journey. To limit her exposure to germs, much of her time was spent isolated from family and friends.
During one of her inpatient stays over the holidays in 2010, she had a little Christmas tree brought to her room and it really cheered her up. Her hospital room felt a little more like home with a decorated tree and a big stocking!
The following Christmas Emma helped deliver trees with ornaments to the kids that were on the oncology wing at Kosair Children’s Hospital. She hoped that the trees would help other kids feel a little closer to home even though they were in the hospital.
One of Emma’s wishes was that this would be a tradition that would be carried on for future years. We have had the privilege of fulfilling this wish.
Tonight our board gathered together and delivered 20 pre-lit trees, ornaments and a handwritten note that Emma had written when she delivered the trees in 2011 to Kosair Children’s Hospital.
Our board would like to thank Taryn and the Child Life Team at Kosair Children’s Hospital for coordinating the delivery of our trees to the children who will be on the oncology wing in the hospital this season.
Don’t Forget to Smile!!
